Professional background: Prof. Woldie is a health policy and management specialist who has 20 years of experience as a researcher, educator, and policy advisor in the field of public health and health policy and systems management. He has led several health policy and systems research projects focusing on community health systems, maternal and child health service quality and utilization, health equity, and quality of health services. He is currently a Health Policy and Systems Senior Advisor at the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. Prof. Woldie is also the Deputy Director for Evidence to Policy workstream of the Fenot Project of Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health based in Addis Ababa.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Health Policy and Systems at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia; Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia; Wolita Sodo University, Ethiopia; and Jimma University, Ethiopia.

Name: Esayas Kebede Gudina (MD, DTMH, PhD)

Professional background: Prof. Gudina is a consultant physician with 17 years of experience in clinical practice, research, and teaching in the field of internal medicine and infectious diseases. He has led multiple research projects in infectious diseases, focusing on tuberculosis, HIV, malaria, meningitis, antimicrobial resistance, COVID-19, viral hepatitis, and infection prevention and control in healthcare settings. In addition to his professional work, Prof. Gudina has extensive leadership experience in hospital management and academic administration. Currently, he is serving as a consultant physician and professor of medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at Jimma University in Ethiopia.

Name: Eyasu Makonnen Eshetu (B.Pharm, MSc, PhD, HDP)

Professional background: Prof. Eyasu Makonnen Eshetu is a pharmacologist working for Addis Ababa University as an academician, researcher, and consultant. He has led several research projects as a principal investigator. He has published over 246 peer-reviewed scientific papers, books, and book chapters.   He provides consultancy services to various institutions. He has served as a member and Chairperson of the National Health Science and Technology council and National Health Research Ethics Review Committee for over 10 years, and currently serving as a member of National Research Ethics Review Board again. He is heavily involved in offering training on Good Clinical Practice, Bioethics, and clinical trials.  He is a fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Science and has served as a member of the Health Working Group of the academy. He is serving as a chair of the Advisory Committee on Clinical Trials in Ethiopia currently. He is a Deputy Head of the World Bank Supported Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa), College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University.

Name: Alemayehu Worku Yalew (BSc, MSc, PhD)

Professional background: Prof Alemayehu received his PhD in 1997 from the University of Leipzig, Germany. Prof.  Alemayehu is versed in public health research. He is an expert in the design, planning, and implementation of sound health research. He is resourceful in data analysis, and this allows him to disseminate pertinent health research findings to policymakers, program planners, civil societies, and beneficiaries/communities. His involvement in teaching, research, and service is critical. He has served the various regional universities of Ethiopia in capacity building and knowledge transfer programs to ensure the continuity of knowledge generation in public health for years to come. Prof Alemayehu is among the core team of facilitators for the regional workshop for Anglophone African Countries on Monitoring and Evaluation of Population, Health, and Nutrition Programs since 2005, which promotes the use of information for proper implementation of public health programs. Prof. Alemayehu has more than 330 publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapter author of different public health study reports. Prof. Alemayehu worked as a member of the data and safety monitoring board for different clinical trials. Prof Alemayehu has been a Member of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences since 2017.  He also served as guest lecturer and researcher at various Universities and Institutions in the county and abroad. Prof. Alemayehu has received the 2011 Ethiopian Public Health Association Senior Researcher Gold Medal Award; the College of Health Sciences of Addis Ababa University last 10 years best researcher award in 2014; College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa university, lifetime achievement in research award in 2020; and award for publishing the third highest number of articles from Addis Ababa University in 2022.

Name: Abebe Bekele (MD, FCS (ECSA), FACS, MAMSE)

Professional background: Prof. Bekele is the Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in Rwanda. He has served as CEO of the Black Lion Teaching Hospital and Dean of the School of Medicine of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He is a Professor of Surgery (General and Thoracic surgery) and has full professor faculty positions at UGHE, Addis Ababa University, and the University of Rwanda. He has received fellowships in Medical Education from FAIMER in Philadelphia and in Simulation-Based Education from the University of Washington. He has also graduated in Surgical Leadership from the Harvard Medical School. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the East and Central Africa Journal of Surgery and sits on the editorial board of the JAMA Health Forum and the Ethiopian Medical Journal. He has published more than 120 articles and book chapters and is a recipient of several regional and international awards including the CUGH Distinguished Leadership Award in 2024. He serves as a member of the advisory councils and boards of the Ethiopian Ministry of Sciences and Higher Education, the WHO Council on Learning and Capacity Building in Health Emergences, the Global Surgery Foundation, and the African Forum for Research and Education in Health.

Name: Wendemagegn Enbiale (MD, MPH)

Professional background: Professor of Dermatovenerology at Bahir Dar University, brings over 20 years of experience and expertise to his field. As a medical doctor holding a Ph.D. in Global Health and Dermatology, his career encompasses a wide range of clinical, academic, research, and administrative responsibilities. Prof. Enbiale is actively engaged in various areas, including outbreak management, community-based research, operational research, and clinical trials. His contributions extend to international platforms, where he serves as a member of the WHO Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases. He also holds positions as the vice-chair of the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GLODERM) and vice-chair of the NTD Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia.

Professional background: Dr. Wondwossen Amogne is an internist and senior infectious diseases specialist who has over 20 years of experience as a physician, educator, and researcher. His service and research focus on people living with HIV, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, COVID-19, and antimicrobial resistance. He is a fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences and an honorary full professor in molecular and clinical medicine at the University of Dundee, Scotland. He serves as an advisory board member for the Journal of Clinical Tuberculosis and Other Mycobacterial Diseases, a review editor for Frontiers in Immunology, and an editorial board member for PLoS ONE.

Name: Markos Tesfaye (MD, PhD)

Professional Background: Prof. Tesfaye is a psychiatrist with more than 22 years of experience in psychiatric research, academia, and clinical practice. His interests include global mental health, as well as epidemiological, clinical, and health services research within the field of psychiatry. Currently, Prof. Tesfaye is a postdoctoral research fellow at both the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen in Norway. In this role, his research is centered on applying various big data analytical methods to study the genetics and epigenetics of mental disorders.

Professional background: Dr. Tigist Workneh Leulseged is a medical doctor and public health specialist with over 5 years of experience as a researcher and research mentor for clinical and master's research programs. She is currently working as the General Manager of Medical Research Lounge (MRL), a research consultancy and training center she founded. Name: Helina Fikre (MD, MPH)

Professional background: Helina Fikre is a medical doctor with ten years of experience in clinical research, specializing in leishmaniasis, at the leishmaniasis research and treatment center, University of Gondar. She has participated in clinical trials and led diagnostic trials among multiple clinical researchers. Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in public health.  Alongside her fellowship, Helina has currently shifted her focus to clinical and public health consultancy, driven by her passion for making positive impacts in healthcare through evidence-based medicine. She currently serves as a member of the Leishmaniasis technical group, collaborating with the Ministry of Health to eradicate leishmaniasis in the country.

Professional background: Dr. Tsegazeab Laeke is a neurosurgeon by profession currently working as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Neurosurgery Division, Department of Surgery. He is engaged in various research projects on injuries, neurotrauma, and neuro-oncology. He is the current president of the Society of Ethiopian Neurological Surgery Professionals and Co-Chair of the Global Neurosurgery Committee at the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. He is a board member of the Injury Prevention Initiative for Africa and the Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS).
